How does dropshipping work step by step

Hello,

I'm new to dropshipping and wanting to explore the different ways to start my journey - Shopify, Amazon FBA or ebay.

I do have my concerns about starting out on a platform like Shopify as I feel I'd be like a lone ship in the sea, having to take care of store design, marketing, etc., while if I choose a platform like Amazon FBA or eBay, I'd be on a well known platform where I already have potential buyers close by.

I don't want to hold an inventory.

I'm totally new to Amazon FBA and eBay dropshipping.

Several questions -

1. is it really possible to do amazon FBA without holding an inventory
2. how do I start
3. what are the startup checklist

Would appreciate if I could get some guidance on all this, pls.

Hello Jonaah,

All of the above is very possible, no doubt. You can achieve it with a little hard work, depending on how much time you want to put into all of this.

If you want to make money, its always best to have inventory, because buying in bulks and selling in singulars is what makes all these businesses profitable.

First Step
Initially, you would have to consider your market:

• what do you want to sell
• create an excel sheet with the list of products/services/categories that you want to sell.

Platforms
Decide on a platform, eBay, Amazon, or even on Facebook Market.

Suppliers
Locate a supplier that can sell you the listed things in bulks. NOTE - if you don't want to proceed in bulks, make sure the supplier has availability/inventory for all the things you're wanting to sell.

ETA/Courier
Check with the supplier about the delivery length to a couple of the known countries so you get an idea about their delay times to keep your customers aware and happy.

Conclusion
You can't be reasonably profitable or consider making revenue without buying in bulks and selling in singulars. That is just a reality and unfortunately, it is what it is.

My Personal Recommendation

1. Setup a PayPal account
2. Signup with Facebook
   1. Now you can sell without paying fees to Facebook. You will however get charged a certain amount by PayPal however, you will still be gaining a lot.
3. This is based on you refusing to have inventory and buying in bulks, if you however wish to go ahead with buying in bulks and selling in singulars, then signup for all 3 Platforms and sell.
