Both Remove Unused CSS and Async CSS require API callback from rocket servers, it would be naive to think there's no real-time license validations with their real license database before it returns a status 200.
A few of us have tried our very best to get around it to no avail, its just been a heavy topic since early June.
Is it better to go back to version 3.14.4.2?

You cant use Remove Unused CSS on any nulled version, as it uses WP Rocket servers.
This would require a fully licenced version of WP Rocket (purchased), to work correctly.
